試験官

<試験官A>

<試験官B>

Hello!

Please have a seat.

Thank you.

Thank you. Could you tell us your name?

My name is .........

Where do you come from today?

I'm from east ward of ........ city.

East ward... how long does it take from your house to this place?

It takes about 30 minutes by train from my house.(B

Oh, OK...shall we begin the test?

Yes. Please.

Hello!

Hello.

Well, now I will ask you some questions, okay?

Okay.(OK 。)

I've heard a friend of mine told me a little bit about hot springs in Japan. Could you tell me about hot springs?

Yes. There are many hot springs in Japan. Because Japan is a volcanic country, so there are many many hot spring resorts across the nation. So it's easy access for Japanese people to go to hot springs.(文法的に間違ってるのに気づかなかった。) Especially in Kyushu, there are many good hot spring resorts. For example, there is a Beppu onsen resort, a good hot spring resort.(大分県にあると言うのを忘れた。) In Beppu, there are some types of baths including the ordinary hot water baths, mud baths, steam baths, and sand baths.(Bは「oh〜」など、大きな頷きと共に反応を返してくれた。) Also there is a spectacular...(何て言うべきか迷って・・言い換えた)extraordinary hot springs called "the Hells of Beppu" for viewing rather than for bathing.

What is the best way to go there?

I think trains are the best way to go there. It takes about one and a half hour from Hakata station by train.(車でしか行ったことがなかったので、実際電車でどれだけかかるかは不明だったが、言ってしまったものはもうしょうがないと思って続けた。

Alright. Well, I'm interested in the Edo era, especially in feudal lords. Can you explain about it?

In the feudal ages, there are samurai warriors, merchants, and commoners.(質問を取り違えていることに今書いてて気づいた。)They ranked...classified...umm...how can I say...(ちょっと焦ってしまい、言葉が見つからなかったので、let me think... some samurai warriors became the powerful shogun. Shogun is usually translated as generalissimo. Shogun was a title given by the emperor to the administrative head of the country...

Okay. What do you think is the most important thing during the Meiji Restoration?

Before the Meiji Restoration, Japan had been cut off from other countries, and after the Meiji Restoration, Japan was opened to other countries and the new government was established. Many things were introduced to Japan and almost overnight Japanese were westernized. That's the most important thing, I think.

Alright. I'm also interested in Sumo, for example, slapping each other in a ring. Can you tell me about something?

Sumo is a time honored... spots.(「日本的事象英文説明300選」ど忘れ) Two contestants are matched against one another in a ring. One contestant loses when any part of his body other than the soles of his feet touches the ground, or when he is pushed out of the ring. I think Sumo is not popular today in Japan,(A、大きく頷いてくれる) but many elderly people still can enjoy watching sumo on TV.

I want to watch sumo live. Can I watch it?

Yes, in Fukuoka, in November, there is a sumo tournament annually, so you can enjoy the sumo live.

Oh, really! Okay. I'm also interested in TV programs in Japan. What kind of program are you interested in?

There are many TV programs in Japan such as music shows, spots games, and cooking programs. For me, I'm interested in cooking programs because I'm a housewife.

Oh, okay. How about for foreigners? What program do you think is good for foreigners?

I think news is good.

Oh, news!

Yes, news reports are essential and foreigners can get much information from news.

Alright. That's all for today. Thank you very much.

Thank you very much.

Have a good trip.

Have a nice day.

Thank you very much. You, too.
