B: You can sit down in the center and put your luggage on the left chair.

B: May I have your name?

My name is ・・・.

I live in Toyonaka City, just north of Osaka City.

A: (いきなり)Why are the Japanese houses so expensive?

Japan is a very small country and prices of land are very high. So
prices of houses are high naturally.(味もそっけもない返答・・・反省)

A: (続けて淡々と)Why do Japanese want to own a new car, not an used car?

It's because Japanese regard themselves as belonging to the middle
class・・・most of the Japanese regard(同じことを繰り返してしまった)・・・
and they want to own a new car as a symbol of social status and richness.

A: Well, does it have anything to do with the car inspection system in
Japan?

Rules about safety of cars are very strict in Japan, so we have to take the
car inspection periodically.

B: How much does it cost to take the inspection?

I don't own a car, so I don't know how much it costs exactly.

B: (ほほえみながら)It's very expensive.

Yes・・・I'm not sure, but I think it costs・・・more than twenty thousand
yen.

A: What do you think of the declining birth rate?

It is a serious social problem because it will directly lead to the aging of
the society. We have to take some measures to prevent this decline, such as
establishing a child-care center at a company to take care of the babies
while mothers are working.(あー、もっとふくらませば良かった・・・得意なト

A: The number of foreign workers is increasing these days. What do you think
about it?

I think this is a good tendency. The aging of the society is coming soon and
the foreign workers can compensate for the lack・・・shortage of the
workforce.

A: Why are Japanese buses so punctual?

It's because Japanese is a very punctual people and we can't endure even
several minutes' delay.

People usually make a complaint to the bus companies, I think.

A: Have you ever had a trouble of bus being late?

A: How about trains?
Well, trains・・・these days JR trains are often late.

A: Do they apologize for the delay?

I beg your pardon?

A: Do they make any APOLOGY for it?

Yes, there is an announcement of apology made. In fact, I had an experience
yesterday that my train was late and I could not be in time with the
appointment with my friend.

B: How late was it?

Just five minutes.

A: (ほほえむ)Now I have finished all of my questions. Thank you very much.
