B: Please sit down.(座る)

B: Please put down your…

B: Yes, and…

B: You ca use the chair.

B: Now, can I ask your name.

My name is … .

B: And where are you from?

I’m from Osaka.

B: Osaka, I see.

A: Now, I’m going to ask you some questions.

Yes.

A: Why do many Japanese people like to drink bottled water better than tap water?

(tapの意味が分からなかったので)I beg your pardon?

A:OK, why do many Japanese people like to drink bottled water better than tap water?

Oh, tap.(途中でtapの意味に思い当たり、ほとんど質問の最後にかぶせるように言ってしまった)I..I think it’s because today more people are interested in health. Of course, Japanese tap water is good in quality and for health, but many people think bottled water is better in quality and for health.

A: Why do Japanese celebrate American ceremonies?

Do you mean Christmas?

A: Yes, and Valentine, Halloween and others.

Yes, I think Japanese admire Western culture. (「あこがれる」という表現がおもいつかず) Japanese also like to have fun with their family and friends. So they not only celebrate Japanese ceremonies but also American ceremonies.(祝えるものは何でも祝って楽しみたがると言いたかったが、これ以上言えなかった)

A: Well, please tell me about roten-buro.

Roten ?buro is a large open-air bath. You can enjoy it at Japanese-styled inn.

A: I see. This is the last question. What do you recommend foreign travelers as souvenir of Osaka?

Souvenir… I want to recommend octopus dumpling called takoyaki, but it’s hard to keep takyoyaki good for so long. Souvenir… (しばらく考えるが)I can’t come up with anything other than food.

A: OK,(何か言ったがよく分からなかった)takyoaki is very good. Thank you very much.

Thank you very much.
