(ノックして入室すると,面接官は二人とも日本人で予想と異なり,驚いた)
A: Good afternoon.
B: Good afternoon.

Good afternoon. May I take the seat?(椅子を指して)
A: Yes, Please. First, please tell me your name and where you are from?
Yes. My name is XXX. I came from YYY.
A: Oh, ・・・!
B: うなずく。
A: Ok. Today, we are going to ask you some questions. Are you ready?

Sure.
A: All right. In Japan, can you tell us what kind of fish you can catch in Japan?
Well, tuna, bonito, yellowtail, squid ・・・ Japan is surrounded by the sea so it is very rich in fish and other seafood.
A,B:(試験官同士互いに顔を見合わせてうなずいていた)
A: All right. I understand. Now, next question. How did Japan change after the Meiji Restoration? Can you tell us how it modernized the country?

The Meiji government tried to make everything modern especially in the European way. For example, they imported law system from Britain, military system from Germany, and invited scholars from European countries to implement new systems smoothly・・・(もっといろいろ続けようと思っていたら,試験官がもういいです,といったジェスチャーでさえぎる)
A: Do you think the modernization was a good thing?
It is a delicate question and it’s difficult to answer shortly・・・ May I answer my personal view?
A: Yes, yes.
(考えながらゆっくりと以下のようなことを言った) I think the good side was that Japan fortified itself to vie with strong European nations, but I heard also that the rapid change destroyed the beautiful scenery of Edo period. For instance, many castles were destroyed.
A: Castles? But there are so many castles in Japan, aren’t they?
Yes, still, many were destroyed because they were considered no good in time of modernization, and those remained till today were fortunate just because the price of destruction was too expensive so they were untouched. I read that in a history book.
A&B: Oh really, that’s interesting.
A: OK, next question. Suppose I am a foreign tourist. I'd like to go to Onsen, but I feel shy. Is it possible to wear swimsuits in Onsen?

No, I’m sorry but you have to take off your all dresses. You don’t have to worry about hygiene, because in Japanese bath people wash and rinse off their body completely so the water is supposed to be very clean. But if you feel too shy, many Onsen have small private baths too, so you should ask.
A: Oh, is that a family bath?
Yes.
A&B: 回答を聞きながら二人でうなずく。
A: Oh, thank you for your kind information. Thank you very much, that’s all.

Thank you, and good afternoon.
