A:入室してすぐ)How are you?

I'm fine. May I put my bag here?

A: Of course. And please take a seat.
I'm going to ask you questions about cultural and other things in Japan. When wedding receptions and funerals are held, the host gives some presents or gifts to the guests. I was surprised at it when I first came to Japan. Why do they give those things?

Gifts or presents?(名前や出身地の確認をされず、いきなり質問されたので戸惑う)

A: Yes.

Well, I think Japanese people are trying to express their hospitality by giving the gifts or presents to the guests. Or in some occasions, it is out of vanity. However, in many cases, I think the reason is they want to express their hospitality.
(「葬式などの場合にhospitalityはおかしいんじゃないか」というようなことを言われたと思う。少し笑われた。)

B: 受付でお金を出しますよね。

Ah, yes. People pay money or give money at the front and in return (強調して)they give gifts to the guests.

B: You used the word "pay", but in this case "pay" is not an appropriate word. What do you think is the appropriate word? Can you think of any word?

offer?

B: I think "contribute" is the better word.

Thank you for your information. I must study harder.

A: By the way, what is your name and where did you come from?

My name is ---- I came from Choshi city in Chiba prefecture.

A: Is it far from here?

Yes, it is in he east end of Chiba prefecture.

A: How long did it take?

It took about 3 hours and 30 minutes.(実際は3時間くらいだった。)

B: What is Choshi famous for? What is the main industry in Choshi?

Choshi is famous for its fishing port and soy sauce companies.

B: You can enjoy fishing in Choshi, right?

Yes.

B:銚子では陸釣りしかしませんか。Maybe fisherman go very far in the ocean.

Yes, there are many ships at the port. So they can go far from Choshi.

B: Then, what is the appropriate word for that?

(適切な言葉が思い浮かばない。1秒か2秒の沈黙)

B: Deep sea fishing.

Yes, to the Indian ocean, Pacific ocean....(銚子港は必ずしも遠洋漁業ばかりじゃないんだけどなあ。)

B: I have another question. What does "Choshippazure" mean?

Someone whose behavior is unique or strange. Originally, the term is used for a singer who can't sing well.(答えはa poor singerあたりでも良かったかと後になって思う。試験の最中は話すスピードが速く、また、思いがけない質問だったので思考が追いつかなかった。)

B: Then, what does "Chousi" mean?

It means sake bottle.

B: That is "Ochousi", right? Are there any other meanings for the word?

Conditions. Physical and mental conditions.

B: And?

Tone of voice.(最初にこれを言うべきだったか)

A: OK, now, let's move on to another topic. In festivals in Japan, people Use round fan called "uchiwa". Do Japanese people always use "uchiwa" in your festivals?

Not in every case.(うまく表現できずにややしどろもどろ。そこでNot necessarily.のような表現を繰り返した)In Choshi, we use round fan,
however, in other districts, they sometimes use rise scoops, or flutes dryms.

A: So you don't always use "uchiwa" in Japanese festivals?

NO.

A: OK. Thank you very much for coming today. The examination is over.

Thank you very much.

自分の話した英語については、だいたいこのような表現でしたが、面接官の英語に関してはだいぶ違いはあると思います。
