B: Hello.

Hello.

B: Please put your bag on the chair at the back, and have a seat.

Thank you.

A: Please tell us your name and where you are from.

My name is ○○○. I came from ○○○.

A: Why do the Japanese often make "peace sign" when they take pictures?

I don't know the exact reason for it.

A: What do you think about the recent increase of discount stores?

It's good for consumers. We can buy goods at lower prices.
Due to the economic recession, the prices of goods are going down.
It's good when we buy things. But it's not good for our assets.
I own my condominium apartment and its price is also going down.

A: What do you think is the identity of your generation?

I want to mention the influence of Confucianism.
In Confucianism, one must show respect to one's parents, elder brothers or sisters.
We have the kind of attitude. In general, we tend to be modest, not to be too assertive.

A: How do you explain Honne and Tatemae?

Honne is one's true feelings or opinions. And Tatemae is an opinion for special acceptance.
When we talk with close friends, we show Honne, but when we're in the presence of our boss,
we tend to use Tatemae.
