Good morning.

A, B: Good morning

B: Please put your bag on the chair behind.

B: Please have a seat.

Thank you.

B: May I ask your name and where you are from ?

My name is ○○○○ and I am from ○○○○ ward in Tokyo.

A: Now, I am going to ask you some questions. Tell me why Japanese salaried workers tend to work long hours.

Japanese are hard working people. Therefore, if you don’t work long hours, you are regarded as lazy. So, whether there is enough work or not, we tend to work long hours.

A: OK, then what do you think about Koizumi’s new cabinet?

I think it is well organized. All the cabinet members are capable. But some people…, well, there are some people who are hawkish, I mean, people taking a strong stance toward foreign countries. This is the only worrying point. Therefore, overall or in general, it is a good and capable cabinet.

A: How do you explain “obi” ?

"Obi" is a cloth sash

and it is used to tighten kimono. When you wear kimono, you fasten or tighten kimono with "obi."

A: Ok, that's all for today. Thank you.

Thank you very much.

Good-bye.

A, B: Good-bye.
