Hello.

A& C: Hello.

May I put my belongings here?

A & C : Yes, please.

B: Good afternoon.

Good afternoon.

B: Please sit down.

Thank you.

B: Please tell us your name and where you live.

My name is ○○○. I live in Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture.

A: Good afternoon. How are you?

I’m fine. But I’m a little bit nervous.

A: Oh! Did you eat something?

Yes, I had breakfast.

A: Breakfast ?!

Yes.

A: OK, I’m going to ask you some questions.

Yes.

That’s a difficult question. I’m not sure, but I think it is because, as a funeral is a bad and sad thing, we hide our thumb so that something bad will not happen to our parents or families.

A: OK. What is meoto-chawan?

Meoto-chawan are cups. Two cups. One is larger than the other one, because one is for the husband and the other is for the wife.

A: ??

I mean, meoto means husband and wife, and chawan means a bowl. Therefore, one is for the husband and one is for the wife. You eat rice with it.

A: Is it something you use everyday.

Yes, I use it everyday when I eat rice.

A: OK. How many countries have you visited?

Oh, I have visited many countries. I’ve been to the United States and many European countries and I used to live in Hong Kong when I was in junior high school.

A: OK. What is Uchiwa?

Uchiwa is a folding fan. It is made by thick paper and has a wooden frame or plastic frame. You use it in the summer. You take them at summer festivals.

A: Is there any specific pictures on it?

Some advertisements are on it.

A: (笑って)I’see.

That is because Japanese are group oriented and people wants to have the same thing as someone else have. Therefore people get enthusiastic about those things.(質問も良くわからないままの回答)

A: OK That all. Thank you.

Thank you.
