Hello.

B: Hello. Thank you for coming. Please sit down.

Thank you.

B: Could you tell me your name?

My name is ….

B: Where do you live?

I live in Fuchu city.

B: How long does it take to come here today?

It took about thirty minutes by train.

A: Ok. Let’s start. Recently, I’ve read a newspaper article on high tariffs on foreign rice. What kind of rice do you eat?

Before, I used to eat rice sponsored by government.

A: Sponsored? What do you mean?

Government gives subsidy to support agriculture.

A: All right. How about now?

I buy brand-name rice made in Tohoku district.(この質問に関してはかなりちぐはぐな回答になってしまいました。

A: I like Japanese rice. I’ve tried sukiyaki, tempura and sushi. Now, I want to try something, special. Do you have any recommendation?

Well, how about hitsumabushi. It’s a special eel donburi ,originally made in Nagoya.

A: Eels?(手をニョロニョロ)Wow, I’ve never eaten eels!(興味深そうにして下さる)

Let me explain about kabayaki first. Kabayaki is charcoal-broiled eel basted with a mixture of soy sauce, sugar, and sake. It is usually served on hot rice. Hitsumabashi is a kind of kabayaki. First, you eat it normally. Then add some seasonings such as green onions. Finally, pour hot green tea over it. It’s really good.(ジェスチャーを間交えて話す)

A: Thank you. I’ll try hitsu…..

Hitsumabushi.(笑顔で)

A: Yes!! How about current topics?” と頭をよぎるが…)You are a young Japanese. What is popular among them?

Well, le me introduce you a new style of conversation among high school students. Using local direct is popular among them. They use local accents and vocabulary to make their conversation interesting. For example, in Tokyo thank you is “arigato”, but in Osaka it is “okini”.

Yes. High school students use these words in their conversation. It’s very popular now.

A: OK. Thank you for coming today. (big smile、Bも)O-ki-ni.
