C. Good morning.(笑顔)

Good morning.

C. May I have your name?

I’m xxxx.

C. Where do you live?

I live in Nara, near Horyuji.

A. Would you imagine I am a very curious tourist? Would you tell me about Horyuji.

Well, Horyuji is one of the most famous Buddhist temples in Japan. It is the oldest wooden structure
all over the world. And it is designated as the World Heritage site. The temple was built by Prince Shotoku in the 6th century. No, in the 7th century. He is still very popular among Japanese people. In Horyuji, you can see a lot of beautiful statues and five-storied pagoda. Near Horyuji. It has a calm and historical atmosphere.

A. Which season do you recommend to visit Horyuji.

I recommend spring and autumn since it is not too hot or too cold in these seasons. It is really humid and hot in Summer in Nara.

A. How about in winter?

It is pretty cold. Although I think spring and autumn are better seasons to visit Horyuji, it might be also a good idea to visit there in winter. If the temple is covered with snow, it would be picturesque.(奈良の冬の話をもっとしようと思ったが、そのまま終わる)
A. When do people wear a kimono? I expected that I could see many people wear a kimono, but actually everyone wears gray and black.(私も含め全員、黒、グレーの服だったので、一同ちょっと笑ってなごやかに) Why?

Since putting on a kimono is troublesome, many people can’t put on a kimono properly by themselves. Many women often go to the beauty parlor to get kimono specialists to dress themselves.
A. Really? Then when do people wear a kimono?
People wear a kimono on New Year’s Day and young girls who reached twenty years of age wear kimono on Coming-of-Age Day.

B.
A. Who is the most important person in Japanese history?

Well….I think Prince Syotoku is the most important person. He wrote Japan’s first written code of laws, seventeen- article constitution in the 7th century. In this constitution he said “wa or harmony should be respected”. Japanese people have put much importance on this idea, so Japan is still a harmonious country. That is why I think he is the most important person.

A Thank you very much.

Thank you.
