I heard that Hanami is very popular in Japan. Where would you recommend to see hanami?

(Answer):
I would recommend Chidorigafuchi near the Imperial Palace. A lot of people enjoy viewing cherry blossoms there. It is very famous as one of the Tokyo’s best cherry-blossom viewing spots.

(Examiner A):
Can I enjoy Hanami at any time?

(Answer):
You can enjoy viewing cherry blossoms from early through late April. Generally, cherry blossoms last for only about a week.

(Examiner A):
I see. Then next question. What are popular jobs children would like to take?

(Answer):
Children would like to be baseball players or soccer players because both baseball and soccer are popular sports in Japan.

(Examiner A):
How about girls?

(Answer):
I am not quite sure, but I think many girls want to be ---- air hostess.

(Examiner A):
You mean stewardess?

(Answer):
Yes, but it may be in my age. (All smiled at this point)These days, a lot of girls wish to be ---- a pop singer or something like that.

(Examiner A): OK, next question. Which season would you recommend to visit Japan.

(Answer):
I would recommend either spring or autumn. The weather becomes mild in spring and autumn. In spring, you can enjoy viewing beautiful cherry blossoms and in autumn, changing colors of leaves please your eyes.

(Examiner A):
OK, how about summer and winter.

(Answer):
Japanese summer is very hot and humid. And in winter it is very cold and has a lot of snow especially on the side of the Japan Sea.
(Examiner A): I see. Next. What are the customs I have to remember in Japan.

(Answer):
When you visit a Japanese house, you are supposed to take off your shoes at the entrance. When you take a bath, you should not wash yourself inside the bathtub. You are supposed to clean your body outside the bathtub.

(Examiner A):Oh, Isee. Next. I lost my wallet in a taxi. What would you recommend me to do?

(Answer):
I would recommend that you should contact the police. But not so many police officers speak English. So, I would advise you to contact the tourist information center in Yurakucho. Or, if you remember the phone number of the taxi company you used, you should contact the taxi company.

(Examiner A): Do they speak English?

(Answer): Unfortunately, I do not think so. It could be a better way to contact the tourist information center.

(Examiner A): OK, next. Could you give me a notable figure of Japan?

(Answer): There are many, but if I name one, it is --- Tokugawa Ieyasu. He was a founder and the first shogun of the Tokugawa Shogunate of Japan. Surprisingly it lasted for as many as three hundred years.

(Examiner A): When did it end?

(Answer): It ended when the Meiji Restoration took place in 1868.
