B: Good morning.(笑顔)

Good morning.

B: Please sit here.

Thank you.

B: Please tell us your name.

My name is …

A: Where do you live?

I am living in Koganei city, the western suburb of Tokyo.(I live 〜

A: Good. What is Hanami?(唐突に質問された感じ)

Hanami is “Cherry Blossom Viewing” in spring when the season is at its peak. Japanese people enjoy hanami by eating, drinking, singing and dancing under cherry trees.(3

A:(うなずいて) What is the famous place?

Well, I think Ueno park is one of the famous places for hanami. Though it is very crowded in the hanami season, I would recommend the park because there, you can enjoy a variety of beautiful cheery blossoms in a festive holiday mood.

A: Is it dangerous to stay at night?

No, I do not think so.
Generally speaking, Japan is still a safer country than other countries, so in Japan you can easily find a woman walking alone even at midnight. Additionally Japan’s crime rate is very low and Japanese police do a good job.

A:Who do you think is the most important person in Japanese history?

I think Tokugawa Ieyasu is the most important person. He was the first shogun, or military dictator of the Tokugawa feudal government. His government ruled the whole country for as many as 250 years. During the reign of the government, Japan was relatively stable and peaceful.
Since he was the founder of the feudal government, his influence had long continued until the Meiji era began.

A: When did the Meiji era start?

It started in 1868, about 150 years ago.

A:What’s Japan’s climate?

Japan has four distinctive seasons. It is rather mild in spring and autumn. However, it is very hot and humid in summer and it is cold in winter. Also there is a rainy season between spring and summer. So we can enjoy seasonal changes in the scenery.

ABC: Thank you.
