A, B： Hello. Please relax.
Thank you. I’m a little nervous.
B： First, please tell your name.
My name is …
B： Where are you from?
I’m from Kobe, Hyogo prefecture.
A： I will ask you some easy questions. Japan has four seasons. Which season do you recommend for foreign tourists?
I recommend spring or autumn because the weather is neither too cold nor too hot. In spring, they can enjoy viewing cherry blossoms. In autumn, changing colors of autumn leaves attract them.
A： Thank you. In Japan weddings are held at temples?
Generally speaking, weddings are held at Shinto shrines or churches. So few Japanese use temples for weddings.
A： So when do you go to the temple?
Usually, Japanese go to the temple for funerals or to worship ancestors’ spirits. Personally speaking, my father died 5 years ago, so I often visit my family grave in the temple and make offerings of flowers and incense.
A： When did Japan begin to adopt Western culture, for example, wearing a tie.
I suppose since the Meiji era, Japan has actively imported Western culture
A： So about modern Japan, what is the major industry now?
In my opinion, the automobile industry is the major industry of present-day Japan. In spite of a prolonged recession, Japanese automobile companies including Toyota have increased their sales and competitiveness and expanded their business all over the world. Since I am a would-be tour guide, I hope that the day will come in near future when we can say, “The major industry of Japan is definitely tourism”.
A, B： Thank you very much.
