Hello!

Where should I put my things?

Should I submit....?

Oh! You can have it, of course!

May I have your name?

My name is .........

So, ........ I heard that in Japan, there are many kinds of noodles, ramen, soba and udon. What is the difference between soba and udon?

(でたー!!!!)Soba is brown noodles which are made from buckwheat and udon is white noodles made from wheat. Udon is thicker than soba. Both are served hot or cold.

(OK、という表情)Well, when can I eat hot soba or udon and when can I eat cold ones?

It depends on the season. During the winter, you can enjoy eating soba and udon in a hot broth. (ここでおとなしくしていればよいものを) In the summer (大好きな天ザルを語りたくてうずうず), you can enjoy eating soba with tempura.Tempura is deep fried fish and vegetables, which are really nice. You can eat udon in the same way. It is very good.

Well, what is TOSHIKOSHISOBA?

(そばなら任せろ)Well, TOSHIKOSHISOBA is a kind of soba which is eaten at the end of a year. The word "soba" in Japanese sounds the same as the word that means "coming nearby," so TOSHIKOSHISOBA implies that "the new year is coming soon."

Also, soba is long. So, by eating soba, we pray for our long life.

So, why in Kyoto and Nara there are so many temples and shrines?

Because the emperors in the ancient time, I measn like those in the 7th century believed in Buddhism and Shinto, the original religion of Japan. Some emperor tried to protect the nation by praying. So, there are many temples and shrines.

So, I would like to go to Kyoto. What is the best way to go to Kyoto?

Using Shinkansan, or the bullet train, is the best way to go to Kyoto. If you take NOZOMI, which is the fastest kind of the bullet train, it takes, ah, about two and a half hours, so it is not so far away from Tokyo. Also, in the bullet train you can enjoy eating a box lunch and on the way to Kyoto, you can see Mt Fuji, the highest mountain in Japan!

Well, suppose we are supposed to take an 8:00 p.m. bullet train, one person comes at 8:05. What should we do?

That should be no problem, because a bullet train runs every 10 minutes. (ここでB,にっこり)So, even if you miss one train, you can take the next train.

Do I have to pay extra money?

No, as long as you sit in a non-reserved seat, it is OK!

So, the Bullet train....

SHINKANNSEN!

SHINKANSEN seems to have a long history. Could you explain?

(でたー!)Well, the SHINKANSEN started in 1964 (ここ、ことさら強調!) This year, the Olympic games were held in Tokyo, Japan. At that time, Japan experienced a big economic growth. So, both the Olympic games and SHINKANSEN were the symbols of economic growth!

Bもにっこり) So, what was Heian Period like?

The Heian period was ... in the mid-7th century The emperor had absolute power and Buddism prospered.

Buddism, ah....?

Prospered.

OK. So, you are finished!

Thank you!
