試験官

<試験官A>

<試験官B>

Good afternoon!

Good afternoon!

Tell us your name.

Ny name is ........

Where are you from?

I live in ........ city in ........ prefecture.

I know Japanese people love flowers. Among all those followers, why is cherry blossom particularly loved?

Because cherry blossom lasts only for a short time, only a week or so. This is important. Japanese people love sudden change ot things. Japanese people don't like gradual change. Cherry blossoms last only a week and suddenly the petals fall. Japanese people like this. We call it "ISAGIYOI" in Japanese.(潔いの英訳が思いつかないので)If cherry blossoms lasted for a long time and they didn't fall suddenly we wouldn't like them so much.

Oh ! Japanese like sudden change not guradual change.

Next question. Samurai always carried two swords. Why were they carrying two swords?

Samurai worriors carry two swords. When they had a fight, they usually used a long one. And when the long sword gets broken during the fight, they switched to the short one. And when they fought very closely, then they used the short one to stab the enemy to death.

That's the reason !(と頷いた)

Who is the most important person who came to Japan from overseas in Japanese history?

(現代人を聞いているのか、過去の人物を訪ねているのかわからなかったので)You mean .....

Many people came to Janpan. Who is the most important person?(歴史上の人物でもOKと考えて)

It's Miura Anjin whose name was William Adams. He was shipwrecked near Japan during the Edo period. He was rescued and was brought to Edo because he had a lot of skills and expertise in sailing. He became a pilot.

That was the time when Japan was isolated from other countries, is that right?

Yes, Japan was isolated at that time.(と答えた)

Why was he brought to Edo ?

Because he was skillful in sailing.

Other members were not brought to Edo?

I think other members were not so important.

Last question. Suppose I am a tourist. And my friend said that she lost a camera on the train or a bus, what would you do?

Pardon?

Suppose I am a tourist. And my friend said that she lost a camera on the train or a bus, what would you do?

I recomend she go to the station office and tell, "I left a camere on the train or a bus." After that she should go to the nearby police station.

So, you think there is a good chance of her getting it back?

Yes, Japanese are very kind and honest, and I am sure she can get it back.

That' s good.

Tha's all for today. Thank you very much.

Thank you.

Thank you.
