Come in. Thank you for waiting for such a long time. You can put your bags here if you like.

Thank you.

Good afternoon.

Good afternoon.

Have a seat.

Thank you.

What is your name?

My Name is .........

Where do you live?

I live in .........-Ward, which is in the central part of Tokyo. It takes four minutes from Shinjuku Station by train on the Oedo Line.

Do you work around that area?

No, I don’t have a job now. I have been studying to be a tour guide.

Where do you recommend if I want to do some shopping in Tokyo?

If you want to buy a souvenir, you should go to Harajuku. In Harajuku, there is a very famous souvenir shop called "Oriental Bazaar." If you want to buy PC-related goods, such as game software, or digital cameras, you should go to Shinjuku or Akihabara. There is a very famous electronic shop called Yodobashi Camera.

Do you think tourism is important for Japan?

Yes, it is, because we have many beautiful, scenic places and historical places. However, compared with other countries, for example, South Korea, the number of foreign tourists coming to Japan is really small.

What is the reason for the small number of foreign tourists?

I think in Japan prices are very high - for example, hotel accommodations and foods. Also we do not have many signs written in English or other foreign languages.

What is the Star Festival?

It is held on July 7th. According to a Chinese legend, the two lovers (stars) can meet only on that day. During the rest of the year, they are separated by the Milky Way. People decorate bamboo branches with paper ornaments and strips of colored paper. We usually write romantic messages on the rectangular paper and tie them onto the bamboo branches.

Did you like the festival a lot when you were a child?

Yes, I liked it a lot, because it is a romantic festival.

What is the best season to come to Japan?

Every season has its own charm. However, spring is the best season, since it is not too cold, or not too hot. In the springtime, we have cherry blossoms. In Japan, business and school start in spring. So, people have a fresh, renewed feeling in spring. Spring is the time for people to meet new people. That is why spring is the best season.

Do you really like spring?

Yes, I do. I like cherry blossoms in particular. They are beautiful.

I would like to go to a restaurant that offers food at reasonable prices. Could you recommend one?

You should go to Izakaya, which is a Japanese tavern. They have a variety of foods, such as raw fish called “sashimi,” broiled chicken called “yakitori,” and fried noodles.

What food is inexpensive? How much is it?

For example, broiled chicken called “yakitori” is about 200 yen.

Oh, that's really cheap.

Yes, but it is delicious.

This is the end of your interview. Thank you.

Thank you.

Thank you.
